Flooding expected. Take action now.

Flood warning

This message has been issued because flooding of homes and businesses is likely between 1pm and 5pm today, Monday 21st October. Tides are expected to be higher than usual, due to the forecast weather conditions during spring tides. Areas most at risk are Bawdsey Quay and in front of the flood defences at Felixstowe Ferry hamlet. The detailed forecast for those that use it is for a peak level at Harwich of 2.91 mAODN at 3pm, Monday 21st October, which is 0.66m above tide tables, wind Force 4, South-westerly. (mAODN is height above average sea level, for more info refer to local tide tables). We are within a period of high spring tides which peaked astronomically on Saturday 19th October, and continues until Tuesday 22nd October. Stay safe, and be prepared with a flood kit of essential items, should you need to evacuate your home. Our workforce will be out operating relevant barriers. We will update this message by 6pm, Monday 21st October.
