Flooding expected. Take action now.
River levels are high but are beginning to fall at the Girton River gauge following persistent heavy rainfall yesterday and overnight. Consequently, the risk of flooding to property, roads and farmland remains. We expect flooding to affect Woodlands Close, Dodford Lane, Fairway, Northfield and Oakington Road in Girton. Further light rainfall is forecast over the next 24 hours which may cause levels to remain high. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are liaising with emergency services. Please avoid contact with flood water and move possessions and valuables off the ground or to safety. This message will be updated by 6pm, Thursday 24th December, or as the situation changes.
