Flooding possible. Be prepared.
High river levels this evening may lead to flooding.
Flooding is possible from the evening of 23 January 2026 and overnight into Saturday 24th January.
Locations most affected will be low lying land and roads near rivers, particularly footpaths around Yarm.
All flood gates in Yarm are now closed, with the exception of the public access gates at Sainsbury's and at Yarm Wharf. We do not anticipate closing the remaining gates this evening, however closure may be required Saturday morning. All other gates will remain closed overnight and access to riverside footpaths will be restricted.
We are closely monitoring the situation .
Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses .
This message will be updated by 10:00AM on 24 January 2026 or as the situation changes.
