Warning no longer in force

Thursday's early morning tide at 01:45 on 11/04/2024 is higher than normal due to unsettled weather. The total forecast tide is 5.08 metres Chart Datum (2.34 mAOD) at Chichester Harbour, approximately 50cm lower than Monday evening. A Flood Alert remains in force to describe minor impacts. For 2 hours either side of high water, the tide could again go over and through the beach near to the western side of the Medmerry embankment, with flood water affecting ditches and potentially reaching Medmerry Park Caravan Park, in Earnley. Only minor spray is expected to affect beach top properties at Medmerry. Thursday's afternoon tide at 14:00 on 11/04/2024 is forecast to be 20cm lower (2.16 mAOD). Similar minor flood impacts are expected again Thursday afternoon. Minor flood impacts could continue until Friday 12/04/2024. We continue to monitor the forecast. Avoid Medmerry sea front at high tide. If you have it, please install flood protection 2 hours before high tide. We will reissue this Flood Warning if new property flooding is expected.
