Middle Stour and tributaries

Flood alert

River levels remain high at the Hammoon river gauge on the River Stour from the rainfall yesterday. Low lying land and the tributaries between Sturminster Newton and Wimborne will continue to be affected. Further heavy rainfall is forecast for this evening and overnight which can cause the river levels to rise rapidly again. River levels are likely to be at their highest between 04:30 AM until 10:30 AM on the 21/10/21. We will continue to monitor the forecast and update this alert if necessary. Consider activating any property flood protection products you may have. Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water. This message will be updated by 12:00 AM on 21/10/2021, or as the situation changes.
