Flood alert

High tides over the next two days may lead to flooding.

Flooding is possible on Saturday evening and Sunday morning. Areas particularly at risk include Lynmouth, Combe Martin, Hele, Ilfracombe, Lee, Instow, Appledore, Westward Ho!, Covelly, Bideford, Barnstaple.

The high tide at Ilfrcombe is 06:45PM, times of high water will vary along the coast. Forecast total high tide level is 4.74mAOD, which is 0.22 metres above tide table level. Strong force 6 westerly winds and offshore wave heights of over 4.5m are forecast. On Sunday the forecast total high tide level is 4.90mAOD at 07:15AM, which is 0.31 metres above tide table level. Force 4 south easterly winds and offshore wave heights of over 2.4m are forecast over the high tide.

We are closely monitoring the situation. Avoid coastal roads, footpaths and carparks, which may be flooded. This message will be updated by 4:00PM on 07 December 2025 or as the situation changes.
