Flooding expected. Take action now.
River levels are high but beginning to fall at the Oakington river gauge as a result of persistent heavy rainfall yesterday and overnight. Flooding (of property) and roads is expected to continue. We expect flooding to affect Dry Drayton Road, The Broadway, Cambridge Road, Orchard Way, Longstanton Road, Mead View, The Drift, Lowbury Cresent, Water Lane, Kettles Close, Holme Close, Arcadia Gardens, Cherry Orchard and Station Road in Oakington and Oakington Road in Westwick. Further light rainfall is possible over the next 24 hours which may cause levels to remain high. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are liaising with emergency services. Please avoid contact with flood water and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. This message will be updated by 5.30pm, Thursday 24th December, or as the situation changes.
