Flooding possible. Be prepared.

Flood Alert

Throughout the day on Friday 20 December, we have seen heavy rainfall across the south and east of England. This has caused rivers levels on the Pincey Brook from Takeley to Harlow to rise.

There is likely to be flooding to low lying land and roads close to the river this afternoon on Friday. Flooding from surface water, where water gathers and flows off road surfaces, could also occur.

We expect the river to remain high this evening and further rain is possible overnight. No flooding to properties is currently expected but we are constantly monitoring river levels and have staff on standby to attend to any blockages in the river.

Avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water. 30 cm of fast-flowing water can move a car and 6 inches can knock an adult off their feet.

This message will be updated as the situation changes.
