Flood warning

River levels across the Aire Catchment have risen as a result of the persistent rainfall associated with Storm Christoph. Levels at Castleford are now peaking, and remain at a level we expect property, roads and farmland to flood. Areas most at risk are properties at Lock Lane, Castleford. Although levels will remain high for the rest of today (Thursday, 21 January 2021) no further significant rainfall is expected over the next few days.

Our incident response staff are checking defences and we are closely monitoring the forecast. Please move possessions and valuables off the ground or to safety and do not walk or drive through fast moving water. This message will be updated by 15:55 today, 21/01/2021, or as the situation changes.
