The flood warning for the river Derwent at Norton has been removed. River levels on the Derwent, whilst fluctuating a little in response to this morning’s rainfall, have fallen below levels of concern. Any water on the town side of the defences is being managed through pumping operations, therefore the risk of property flooding has reduced. A flood alert remains in place as flooding of roads and land may still be possible. Further rainfall is expected in the area on Friday morning, 29/01/21, but is not expected to be as heavy as that seen in the early hours of this morning. We are closely monitoring the situation and will re-issue this warning if the situation changes.
