Flooding possible. Be prepared.
Rising river levels this afternoon may lead to flooding.
Flooding is possible from 21:00 PM on 31/12/2024.
Areas most at risk include River Don and its tributaries from Penistone to Kelham Island in Sheffield.
Further flooding is possible overnight as river levels will rise rapidly due to heavy rainfall. River levels are forecast to peak at Penistone between 05:00 AM and 10:00 AM on 01/01/2025.
We are monitoring rainfall and river levels and liaising with emergency services and local authorities. We will issue flood warning where required.
Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers which may be flooded.
We will aim to update this message by 09:00 AM on 01/01/2025, or as the situation changes.
