Flooding expected. Take action now.
River levels are forecast to rise at the Linstock river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall earlier today resulting in high levels down the River Eden into Carlisle. Consequently, flooding of property and roads is possible between 19:30 and 20:00 today, 09/02/2020. The Tesco Store, car park and filling station on Warwick Road Carlisle are considered at risk. Peak levels will be close to the flooding level.
Further light rainfall and showers are forecast overnight with the bulk of heavy rainfall clearing to the East earlier today.
We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are and flood gates and checking defences in Carlisle.
Please plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded.
This message will be updated tomorrow morning, 10/02/2020 or as the situation changes.
