The flood warning for the River Foss at the Foss Basin and Layerthorpe remains in force. River levels on the Foss have peaked at Huntington and are falling. The level of the Foss at Huntington is 2.2m and is expected to continue falling into Friday 22/01/2021. No further significant rainfall is expected in the next 24 hours. The areas most at risk are riverside properties in the Heworth Croft area. The Foss Barrier is in operation and flood gates are closed. Please avoid using low lying footpaths and do not walk, cycle or drive through flood water. Please see the GOV.UK website for a 5 day flood forecast. We are closely monitoring the situation and will update this message in 8 hours, or as the situation changes.
