Flooding possible. Be prepared.
River levels remain elevated due to persistent rainfall this afternoon. Levels are expected to drop overnight. Flooding of low lying land is possible overnight on 15th December until the morning of 16th December. This alert covers land around the River Holme and its tributaries including Meltham, New Mill and the Ribble. Locations most affected will be low lying land and roads near rivers. Rainfall is expected to continue until the early hours of Tuesday morning. We are not currently expecting to issue Flood Warnings, but we are monitoring the situation. Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses. This message will be updated by 9:00AM on 16th December 2025 or as the situation changes.
