Flooding expected. Take action now.
Property flooding is expected. River levels remain high on the River Kennet following recent heavy rainfall and high groundwater levels. Therefore, flooding of low lying land, roads and property is expected to continue today, 08/01/2024, especially in areas closest to the river south of Ramsbury including the Mill Lane and Lamplands areas. This morning is forecast to be mainly dry, with the possibility of wintry showers this afternoon and evening. Rainfall totals are not expected to be significant. Tomorrow is forecast to be mainly dry. We expect river levels to remain high and may rise due to high groundwater levels. We are monitoring the situation and have teams checking blockages. Avoid contact with flood water. Go to the 'River and Sea levels in England' webpage for current river levels. Be aware of flooded roads; do not drive through floodwater. This message will be updated this evening, 08/01/24, or as the situation changes.
