River Medway between Yalding and Maidstone

Flooding expected. Take action now.

Flood warning

The risk of flooding remains from the River Medway between Yalding and Maidstone. The peak flood levels are close to that expected to cause flooding to riverside properties in Wateringbury, particularly around Bow Bridge. Please activate any property flood protection products you may have, such as flood barriers and air brick covers. River levels on the River Medway are peaking this evening in Wateringbury at 7pm and in Maidstone at around 9pm on Monday 28 December. Further isolated showers are possible overnight but they aren’t expected to cause any additional flood impacts. We expect river levels to begin falling from 9pm on Monday 28 December and will continue to fall overnight into Tuesday morning. We continue to monitor the situation closely and are liaising with the emergency services and our partners. Please avoid driving through floodwater. This message will be updated by 9am on Tuesday 29 December, or as the situation changes.
