Flooding expected. Take action now.
The predicted overnight rain and potential for snow melt means that the River Mersey will rise in the early hours of the morning.
Due to the holes in the flood embankment that were created by the flooding on the 1st January there is a very small possibility of river water coming through the holes and flooding the area around the Britannia Hotel on Palatine Road.
If that happens it would be about 6 in the morning, so to give residents the maximum amount of warning, the Environment Agency is issuing a Flood Warning for this area much sooner than would normally be the case. The Environment Agency will update the flood warning later in the night with a more confident forecast.
