Flooding expected. Take action now.
A flood warning has been issued for the River Nidd at Cowthorpe due to quickly rising river levels. Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the River Nidd, with low lying land expected to be most affected, particularly around Properties situated off Oak Road at Cowthorpe. Further rainfall is expected for the rest of Sunday 20/02/2022 and into tomorrow Monday 21/02/2022 and rivers will respond to this. The current river level at Hunsingore is 2.5m and is expected to continue to rise through the night. We are monitoring river levels closely. Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water. Plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. Visit the GOV.UK website for a 5 day flood forecast and up to date river levels. This message will be updated this evening 20/02/2022, or as the situation changes.
