Flood warning

The flood warning remains in force for the River Ouse at Bishopthorpe. The River Ouse has peaked at a level of 4.58m. We expect the river to remain high overnight and then fall slowly. At flood risk are locations near the River Ouse, with low lying land expected to be most affected, particularly around homes and businesses in Bishopthorpe, including Chantry Lane, Main Street, Appleton Road and Copmanthorpe Lane. The Foss Barrier is operating, and our field teams have closed riverside floodgates. You should avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water. Visit the GOV.UK website for a 5 day flood forecast and up to date river levels. This message will be updated tomorrow morning, Wednesday 23/02/2022, or as the situation changes.
