Severe flooding expected. Take action immediately.
The level at the Saxons Lode river gauge is falling slowly, but levels remain high against the New Street flood defence and still have the potential to cause risk to life.
Further rainfall is forecast which may keep levels high, though we do not expect them to rise significantly.
Flooding may affect properties and roads in and around New Street. We anticipate that this severe flood warning will remain in force at least until Friday on the 21/02/20.
Please consider moving possessions and valuables off the ground or to safety and have a bag ready with vital items like medicines and insurance documents. Please follow advice from emergency services.
This message will be updated by 12 pm Friday 21/02/20, or if the situation changes.
