Flooding expected. Take action now.
Property flooding is expected. River levels are high but stable on the River Thames and its tributaries in Oxford following recent rainfall and water moving downstream. Flooding of low lying land, roads and property is expected to continue this evening and overnight, 08/01/2024, especially in the areas closest to the River Thames and its tributaries around Osney Island. Areas most at risk are properties on Osney Island along Bridge Street and South Street. The forecast is for wintry showers to move through the area this evening with a predominantly dry night and day tomorrow. River levels will remain high but continue falling slowly over the coming days as water moves downstream. The temporary barriers at Osney have been deployed, but the risk of property flooding in these areas still remains. Activate any property flood protection products such as flood barriers. Go to the 'River and Sea levels in England' webpage for current river levels. This message will be updated tomorrow morning, 09/01/24, or as the situation changes.
