Severe flooding expected. Take action immediately.

Severe Flood Warning

A Severe Flood Warning has been issued due to the risk of rapid onset of flooding. The river level has now begun to fall very slowly, and is forecast to continue falling slowly today (18/02/20), but the risk of flooding to property, roads and farmland continues. Flooding is affecting properties around the riverside areas of Burton upon Trent including Waterside Road area in Stapenhill, Burton Bridge area, Newton Road area in Winshill and Church Lane in Newton Solney. The weather forecast is for bands of rain and scattered showers for the next few days. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are actively checking river levels, the weather forecast and liaising with the emergency services. Please have a bag ready with vital items like medicines and insurance documents and call 999 if in immediate danger. Move family pets, possessions and cars to safety. This message will continue to be updated today (18/02/20), or if the situation changes.
