Flood warning

Heavy rain has fallen in the River Bain catchment, with further rain forecast later today. Levels in the River Bain are rising, and are expected to continue to rise throughout today, Saturday 6th February. We expect the river to peak in the early hours of the morning on Sunday 7th February. The rising river levels have already caused flooding of low lying land and roads, and we now expect properties near the River Waring immediately upstream of Stanhope Road to be affected from the evening on Saturday 6th February onwards. Low lying properties near the River Waring are most at risk. Stay safe and be aware of your local surroundings. Please avoid contact with flood water. Our staff are out in the area to check the flood defences, clear blockages, and assist the Emergency Services and Council. We will be closely monitoring the situation, and this message will be updated on Sunday 7th February or as the situation changes.
