Flooding possible. Be prepared.
Considerable water remains on the Somerset Levels and Moors but river levels are slowly falling. Upstream catchments are saturated. As such, the risk of flooding continues. Areas most at risk include locations near the River Yeo, River Parrett and River Cary, with low lying land and roads expected to be most affected particularly around the Ilchester to Yeovilton road at the end of runway.
Rainfall in Somerset will be light and patchy, arriving from the southwest today and continuing as occasional drizzle overnight and into Tuesday, mainly in western areas. By Wednesday, conditions look mostly dry with little to no rain expected
We continue to monitor the situation. Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water. Remain aware of local water levels and weather conditions and don’t put yourself or others at risk. This message will be updated by 1pm on 24th February.
