Flooding possible. Be prepared.
Considerable water remains on the Somerset Levels and Moors but river levels are slowly falling. Upstream catchments are saturated. As such, the risk of flooding continues. Areas most at risk include locations near the River Yeo, River Parrett and River Cary, with low lying land and roads expected to be most affected particularly around the Ilchester to Yeovilton road at the end of runway.
Today stays largely dry with only patchy rain expected, and Wednesday is mostly dry too with just the odd spot of rain in parts of Somerset. From Thursday afternoon a heavier, organised and windier spell of rain moves in from the West.
We continue to monitor the situation. Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water. Remain aware of local water levels and weather conditions and don’t put yourself or others at risk. This message will be updated by 1pm on 25th February.
