Flooding possible. Be prepared.
Following overnight rain yesterday and snowmelt levels on the Tidal River Aire remain high and will remain so over the coming days. Some of the lower Aire washlands are now operating. West Marsh Washland is now filling.
Flooding is possible. Areas most at risk include The River Aire from Haddlesey Weir to Airmyn.
River levels at Carlton Bridge are expected to peak overnight between midnight and 6am. No further significant rainfall is expected over the next couple of days allowing river levels to fall over the next few days.
We are closely monitoring the situation and monitoring rainfall and river levels. We will issue flood warnings where required.
Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water. Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses.
