Flooding possible. Be prepared.
River levels have peaked, but forecast rainfall could cause a further rise in level, and the risk of flooding still remains throughout this evening and into tomorrow. Areas most at risk are low-lying roads and land around the brooks in Leicester City, including recreational land where water depths could become hazardous. Areas particularly at risk include those around the Braunstone Brook, Lubbesthorpe Brook, Melton Brook, Saffron Brook, Willow Brook, Bushby Brook, Evington Brook, Thurnby Brook and Scraptoft Brook. Further heavy rainfall is forecast Friday afternoon, 28/08/2026, with lighter persistent rainfall through the weekend. We are closely monitoring the situation. Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses & monitor local water levels and weather conditions. This message will be updated by 17:00 on 28 August 2026, or as the situation changes.
