Flooding possible. Be prepared.

Flood alert

High tides today may lead to flooding. 
Flooding is possible from 3:00PM to 7:00PM on 17/02/2026. 
Strong Northerly winds combined with high tides may lead to wave overtopping. Locations most affected will be coastal roads and footpaths, in particular Seaham Harbour between 3:00PM and 7:00PM. 
We are closely monitoring the situation . 
Avoid coastal roads, footpaths and carparks, which may be flooded . 
This message will be updated by 8:00PM on 17 February 2026 or as the situation changes.
