Flooding expected. Take action now.

Flood warning

The level on the Washford River continues to fall but remains high and above the Flood Warning level due to continued groundwater entering the river from the surrounding saturated land. Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the Washford River, with low lying land and roads expected to be most affected. Areas at risk include properties in Roadwater and roads in Kingsbridge.
After a drier but showery day today, Thursday 29 January 2026, a band of sustained rain, heavy at times, is forecast this evening and into early Friday. The catchments are saturated, therefore rivers are forecast to rise again this evening, though not as much as on Tuesday.
We are monitoring rainfall and river levels closely and Field Teams are clearing debris screens and checking rivers for blockages. Act on your flood plan if you have one and check that any flood resilience equipment you may have is operational. This message will be updated by 1PM on 30/01/2026, or as the situation changes.
