Flooding expected. Take action now.
Heavy rain, caused by thunderstorms, is currently falling in the Wealdstone Brook catchment. This is causing the river to rise and may continue to do so if the rainfall persists. Properties and low lying areas in the Kenton area will start to flood first from 5pm today, Wednesday 17 August. Further flooding is possible if the river continues to rise. Flood waters may be deep and fast flowing in these areas. Residents are strongly urged to take action now. Move valuables away from the ground floor and remain safe and be aware of your local surroundings. We will be closely monitoring the situation throughout the rest of today and tonight. We are ready to respond if necessary. The current thunderstorms are forecast to persist for the rest of today, Wednesday 17th August, and into the night, after which the forecast improves and becomes much drier. This message will be updated by 9pm or sooner if the situation changes.
