River levels rose rapidly overnight due to rainfall and melting of snow throughout today.
River levels peaked overnight and are now dropping and are forecast to conitune to fall throughout the day. Flooding remains possible.
Areas most at risk include Whiston Brook at Whiston.
Wintry showers are clearing the areas this morning. after which it will be mainly dry and cold for the next few days.
We are closely monitoring the situation. Please avoid using low lying footpaths and bridges near local watercourses. Please refer to advice from local authorities and the emergency services regarding risks relating to snow and icy conditions. This message will be updated by 04:00 PM on Monday 06 January 2025, or as the situation changes.
