Flooding expected. Take action now.
Heavy rain has fallen across the River Great Ouse catchment over the past few days. River levels at Bedford remain high, but are falling. Further rainfall is forecast tonight, Sunday 27th and Monday 28th December 2020. Consequently, the severity is easing but the risk of flooding (of property) is expected to continue. We expect flooding to affect Riverside Close, Ford End Road, Cauldwell Walk, Commercial Road, Horne Lane, River Street, Palgrave Road, Cauldwell Street, Cardington Road, Kingsway, Nicholls Road, Goodmayes Close, Tennyson Road, Chapel Close, Bury Walk and Goldington Road in Bedford. Follow the instructions of the Emergency Services. Find out if your community assistance centre is open at www.bedford.gov.uk. Stay safe, and aware of your local surroundings. Avoid contact with flood water. We are monitoring the situation. This message will be updated in 8 hours, or as the situation changes.
