Flooding expected. Take action now.
River levels are falling, but remain high at the Bedford river gauge as a result of the recent heavy rainfall. Consequently, the risk of property flooding is expected to continue. We expect flooding to affect Riverside Close, Ford End Road, Cauldwell Walk, Commercial Road, Horne Lane, River Street, Palgrave Road, Cauldwell Street, Cardington Road, Kingsway, Nicholls Road, Goodmayes Close, Tennyson Road, Chapel Close, Bury Walk and Goldington Road in Bedford. Further rainfall is forecast for Sunday 27th and Monday 28th December 2020, so we expect river levels to remain high. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are liaising with emergency services. Call 999 if in immediate danger. Please move possessions and valuables off the ground or to safety and follow advice from emergency services. Find out if your community assistance centre is open at www.bedford.gov.uk. This message will be updated in 8 hours, or as the situation changes.
