Flooding expected. Take action now.
Property flooding is expected. River levels have risen on the Bear Brook and California Brook as a result of Storm Alex. The California Brook has burst its banks in places. Therefore, flooding of property is expected to continue, especially in the Penn Road area. Multiple properties have already flooded on Penn Road. Further heavy rainfall is forecast over the next 12 hours. River levels have peaked from overnight rainfall, but may rise again with further rainfall expected this morning and afternoon.
We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are in the area checking defences, clearing trash screens and liaising with emergency services who are on site. Please avoid contact with flood water, move possessions and valuables off the ground or to safety and follow the advice of the emergency services. This message will be updated this evening, 04/10/20, or as the situation changes.
