Flood warning

High tides and forecast weather conditions are expected to cause flooding tomorrow.
Flooding is expected from 6:30 am on 29 January 2026.
Areas most at risk include areas in close proximity to Christchurch Harbour including Mudeford, Stanpit, the Quomps and Wick area. The detailed tidal forecast for those who use it, is for high water level of 1.42 mAODN at 8:30am and south easterly force 5 winds. The second high water is forecast at 1.36 mAODN at 9:45 pm with south easterly force 6 wind. (mAODN is height above average sea level). The river level at the Throop station has also triggered this Warning and the risk is higher during the next 2 high tides. Flooding is possible 2 hours either side of high tide times.
We are closing flood gates and closely monitoring the situation.
Avoid coastal roads, footpaths and carparks, which may be flooded and refer to local authority website for road closures.
This message will be updated by 4:00PM on 29 January 2026 or as the situation changes.
