Flooding expected. Take action now.
High water levels are forecast to affect the foreshore from St Margaret’s at Cliffe to Sandgate overnight tonight 08/04/24, due to high spring tides and strong winds. Tides will be highest between 23:15 and 00:15 tonight, with high tide at 23:45. Flooding to roads and low lying land is expected at these times, however these conditions may apply two to four hours either side of high tide. We expect flooding to affect coastal areas, particularly land, roads and low lying properties nearest the sea. Please stay away from beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads as shingle and debris may be thrown by large waves and sea spray.
We are closely monitoring the situation and our incident response staff are prepared to respond if required. This message will be updated tomorrow morning, 09/04/2024, or as the situation changes. Tides remain high over the next few days, so please stay aware in case further warnings are issued. For those that use it, the astronomical water level will be 3.32m AOD and the total water level will be 4.11m AOD, with south westerly wind speeds of Force 6.
