Flooding possible. Be prepared.

Flood alert

We do not expect flooding during the high tide this afternoon, which is expected to peak at 02:00 PM. However, a high tide, strong winds and large waves may lead to further flooding during the high tide tonight, which will peak at 02:30 AM on 23/08/24. Flooding is possible 2 hours either side of this time. Areas most at risk include low lying areas along the coast from St Bees Head to Haverigg including Ravenglass and Annaside. We will close flood gates at Ravenglass. Be careful along beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads as large waves and sea spray could be dangerous. This message will be updated by 04:00 PM on 22/08/2024, or as the situation changes.
