Flood alert

High tides, strong winds and large waves overnight may lead to flooding. The highest tide level along the coast from St Bees Head to Haverigg is expected at 2:15 AM on 23/08/2024. Flooding is possible 2 hours either side of this time. Areas most at risk include low lying areas along the coast from St Bees Head to Haverigg including Ravenglass and Annaside. We do not expect to see similar impacts from the high tide tomorrow afternoon. We will close flood gates at Ravenglass. Be careful along beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads as large waves and sea spray could be dangerous. This message will be updated by 9:00 AM on 23/08/2024, or as the situation changes.
