Flooding possible. Be prepared.
The Groundwater level at Upper Cranbourne Farm is high, but today has started to fall. Groundwater has emerged at Victoria Hall (Sutton Scotney) and in Chilbolton at Village Street, near to the pumping station. The drainage networks will struggle to operate in both locations. Today and tomorrow (26/02/2020) some showers are expected, but levels should continue to fall. From Thursday (27/02/2020) to Saturday (29/02/2020) further rain is forecast. If the average forecast rainfall (20mm) is recorded locally, then it is possible that groundwater levels could still fall, albeit very slowly. However, should the maximum forecast totals affect the area (40mm), levels will rise again at the weekend. An unsettled outlook may also continue into next week. We would like both communities to remain prepared for groundwater flood impacts over the next couple of weeks. This Flood Alert will be updated by 15:00 on Thursday 05/03/2020.
