Groundwater flooding in Sutton Scotney and Chilbolton

Message issued at 11:11am, Thursday 12th March 2020

Warning no longer in force

The Groundwater level in Sutton Scotney is very high, but continues to slowly fall. Over the next 5 to 10 days, the weather is fairly dry, except for this weekend when 10 to 15mm of rain is forecast. This rainfall will not cause a large increase in the groundwater, and over the next 2 weeks, the level should continue to fall. The area will remain sensitive to any further heavy rainfall over the next month. Should heavy rainfall occur in this time and cause levels to rise, then we’ll issue further advice.
