Flooding possible. Be prepared.

Flood alert

River levels have risen as a result of heavy overnight rainfall. We believe there is a possibility of flooding for low lying land and roads close to the Speringbrook Sewer, particularly around Hamstreet. This may start around 08:00 this morning. Rain is forecast to continue to 09:00 today after which it will clear somewhat with the occasional shower. Further rain is forecast over night tonight into Monday 27/12/2020. River levels will continue to rise for some time yet. You are advised to remain attentive and, for your own safety, keep clear of rivers. Please avoid driving in flood water as bow waves often contribute to property flooding.

We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking and clearing screens and patrolling catchments. This message will be updated later this afternoon.
