Flooding possible. Be prepared.
High tides on Wednesday may lead to flooding.
Flooding is possible for 1 hour either side of Wednesday afternoon's tide at 12:34 on 21/01/2026.
The weather increases tide table values by 0.5 m. Total forecast tide is 4.72 metres Chart Datum (2.13 mAOD) at Cowes. Strong South Easterly Force 6 wind. Large waves will cause spray overtopping and overwashing of defences across the exposed coast at Yarmouth, Freshwater Bay, Sandown, Shanklin, Gurnard and Ryde. This will flood esplanades, sea front car parks and roads in these locations. As Cowes is sheltered from waves, impacts, if any, will be minimal. We do not expect property flooding. Thursday's tide at 00:49 22/01/2026 is forecast to be 11 cm lower (2.02 mAOD).
We are closely monitoring the situation. Consider activating any flood protection products you may have.
