Flood alert

Tuesday's early morning tide at 00:15 on 09/04/2024 is higher than normal due to unsettled weather with Gale Force 8 South Westerly winds. The weather increases tide table values by 0.67 m. The total forecast tide is 7.21 metres Chart Datum (3.94 mAOD) at Shoreham. For 3 hours after high tide, water levels in the Lower Adur will remain high. At Upper Beeding the river will be close to the top of the river bank. There may be a small amount of water in fields in Bramber. Minor flood impacts could still be possible Tuesday afternoon. However, Tuesday's tide at 12:15 on 09/04/2024 is forecast to be 50cm lower (3.45 mAOD), so flood risk should be lower. We continue to monitor the forecast. Avoid walking through flood water at Beeding Bridge as it may conceal hidden hazards. We will update this message by 18:00 on 09/04/2024.
