Flood alert

River levels are starting to recede but remain high following recent heavy rainfall. Flooding is possible on 25 March 2026 . Locations most affected will be low lying land and roads near the river Eden and its tributaries from its confluence with the River Irthing through Crosby-on-Eden and Carlisle to the Solway Firth at Rockcliffe. Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water . We are closely monitoring the situation . This message will be updated by 10:00AM on 26 March 2026 or as the situation changes.
