High tides, strong winds and large waves this evening may lead to flooding.
Flooding is possible from 16:15 to 22:00 on 22/01/2026.
Locations most affected will be The North Sea coast from Staithes to Whitby including Sandsend and tidal River Esk.
We are closely monitoring the situation .
Avoid coastal roads, footpaths and carparks, which may be flooded .
This message will be updated by 9:00AM on 23 January 2026 or as the situation changes.
