Flooding possible. Be prepared.
River levels are rising quickly due to heavy rainfall. We expect flooding to affect low lying land and roads close to the rivers, particularly along Swalecliffe Brook in Swalecliffe and around Herne Bay. Further heavy rainfall this afternoon is expected to cause the river level to peak between 7pm and 9pm this evening on Thursday 22 February. River levels are expected to fall overnight into Friday morning, 23 February. We will continue to monitor rainfall and river levels closely and our incident response staff are checking and clearing any blockages and debris from rivers. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses. This message will be updated by 9am on Friday 23 February, or as the situation changes.
