Flooding possible. Be prepared.
This alert is being issued early, in advance of possible heavy rain. 10-20mm of rain is forecast from the early hours of Monday, but as much as 60-70mm is possible. If as much rain falls as predicted, flooding could be possible. From 04:00 on 21/07/2025, flooding could possibly affect gardens of Brook Street and Gosford Way and the Gosford Way Allotments. Riverside properties at Millstream Gardens, The Millrace, Clement Lane, Brightling Road and Manor Way could also be affected by flooding. Further showers are predicted until the end of the week. The river should begin to fall by midday, and should return to normal shortly after. River levels could end up similar to January 2023. If you see a blockage affecting the flow in the river, please call our incident hotline on 0800 80 70 60. We regularly clear debris from our grilles on Gosford Way, to help keep the river flowing freely and reduce flood risk. We will update this message by 12:00 on 21/07/2025.
