Flooding possible. Be prepared.
High river levels on Tuesday may lead to flooding.
Flooding is possible on 27 January 2026 from 08:00, as 15mm of rain has fallen, with more predicted.
Flooding could affect gardens of Brook Street and Gosford Way and the Gosford Way Allotments. Riverside properties at Millstream Gardens, The Millrace, Clement Lane, Brightling Road and Manor Way could also be affected by flooding. Rain is forecast to continue until 13:00 27/01/2026. River levels and flood risk should begin to reduce in Polegate and Wannock by 15:00 27/01/2026. Only isolated showers are forecast Wednesday and Thursday. River levels should return nearer to normal by Wednesday afternoon.
We are closely monitoring the situation , clearing debris screens including Gosford Way.
Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water . Report blockages to 0800 80 70 60.
