Flooding possible. Be prepared.
High river levels on Thursday may lead to flooding.
Flooding is possible on 27 August 2026 from 03:00 as intense (but uncertain) rainfall is forecast.
Up to 45mm of rain could occur, but there is low confidence in location. If as much rain falls as predicted, then flooding could affect gardens of Brook Street, Gosford Way and the Gosford Way Allotments. Riverside properties at Millstream Gardens, The Millrace, Clement Lane, Brightling Road and Manor Way could also be affected by flooding. Only localised showers are forecast from Thursday afternoon. River levels and flood risk should begin to reduce by 08:30AM on 27/08/2026 in Polegate.
We are closely monitoring the situation and clearing debris screens, including at Gosford Way.
Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water . Report blockages to 0800 80 70 60.
