Flooding expected. Take action now.
Property flooding is expected. River levels are falling slowly on the River Thames in the Reading and Caversham area following recent rainfall and water moving downstream. Flooding of low lying land, roads and property is expected to continue overnight, 08/01/2024, especially in the areas closest to the river. Areas most at risk are those closest to the river including Richfield Avenue, Bridge Street, The Warren, Mill Green, The Causeway, Queens Road and Thames Side. The forecast is for wintry showers to move through the area this evening with a predominantly dry night and day tomorrow. River levels will continue falling slowly over the coming days, but levels will remain high as water makes its way downstream. We are monitoring the situation. Activate any property flood protection products such as flood barriers. Be aware of flood water that may remain on the floodplain as river levels recede. Go to the 'River and Sea levels in England' webpage for current river levels. This message will be updated tomorrow morning, 09/01/24, or as the situation changes.
